Richmond (Virginia)
Richmond es la capital del estado de Virginia (oficialmente la República de Virginia), en Estados Unidos. Según el censo de 2003 tenía una población de 1.126.262 habitantes. Al igual que el resto de municipios de Virginia integrados como ciudades, es independiente, sin pertenecer a ningún condado. Richmond está rodeada por los condados de Henrico y Chesterfield, situados al norte y sur de la ciudad respectivamente. El área metropolitana incluye la ciudad, sus dos condados lindantes y una amplia zona de Virginia central. Otras jurisdiciones del área metropolitana de Richmond incluyen los condados vecinos de Amelia, Caroline, Charles City, Cumberland, Dinwiddie, Goochland, Hanover, King and Queen, King William, Louisa, New Kent, Powhatan, Prince George, y Sussex, y las ciudades independientes de Colonial Heights, Hopewell y Petersburg, así como la población de Ashland en el condado de Hanover.
